Kicking off Spring with Squadron Friends

How can you NOT have a cook out on a day like this?
This event began as a, "Hmmm, let's have someone over and grill out this weekend." ...to... "but this friend has her husband deployed and would probably love a break." ...to... "Well, maybe we should invite so-and-so then." ...to... "Let's just send an email to everyone in the squadron!" And, as we don't have much in the way of patio furniture... this was a BYOC party. Bring Your Own Chair! My husband was kind enough to purchase a picnic table from Lowe's the night before. Thanks, honey!

Me and the Master Griller. : )

We ended up with 35 people, 17 of which were kids! The Yu's - off to a new adventure in D.C. soon!

The kids all ate at the picnic table.

The smallest picnic guests - Logan and Liam

The next size up - highchair worthy toddlers - Evelyn and Mary

Wrestling is always a favorite pastime for Ivan and his buddies!

Mary spent most of the evening on a mission to hold two soccer balls at once. She was finally successful - I just missed it with the camera!

Bill was glad to see that his fortress of a swing set held up to that many children. The kids kicked balls, played frisbee, soaked each other with squirt guns and just played. Finally, we are using this 2.5 acre lot we're on!

Heather won for cutest dessert - her pull-apart turtle cake!
Jonas Roman was the first to test his mommy's creation...
Peggy won for most appropriately themed BIG cookie, with the Air Force symbol on top! Yum!

It was a fun, fun, afternoon... the only thing that would've made it better, would have been an appearance made by the Queens...
